Home Show Fun!

Last week while listening to the radio, dh heard about a web offer for free tickets to a home improvement show. You know, the trade shows with all the displays and such....Well... we usually go anyways.... so, even better if it is free!

Of course, it's fun to have others... so Big Sis and her dh and kids went... and the Little Lady's Madrina and her little guy D came also! We had a great time!

We knew there would be things for the kids to do...so, double bonus!!!!!!!!

For the kids, the Home Depot had a "workshop" on making wooden tool boxes and birdhouses!
They got the kits, an apron with their names on it, and a pin of what they made.

Best thing...they got to watch Mom and Dad work on it for them! *laughs*
We let the boys try.... they were more interested in eating popcorn though....

They also had a petting zoo for them.... it wasnt much of a petting zoo... more like 3 baby lambs and 2 young alpaca's and a big furry bunny.... but the kids got a kick out of it...so, job done!

Rainbow Playsets had some of their big swingsets set up and let the kids play on those... and a home improvement company had a big moonwalk that the kids enjoyed.... but...the ultimate highlight of the entire day.... was....

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!!!

Yes...that's right.... SpongeBob SquarePants....THE SpongeBob SquarePants was at the Home Improvement show!!!!! How lucky for us!!!!!

Our kids just hogged him.... there were kids waiting in line...and our boys would NOT leave him along... talking to him, trying to give him their candy...putting stickers on him.... pulling his nose.... asking him to sing.... on and on....
It was funny to watch them just surround him! Poor Guy! But, guess he should be happy that he has fans!!!!! and he has 4 HUGE fans in the boys and their BFF, D!
Well.... here are some pics from our Very exciting day!!!!

BFF D proudly showing off his craftsmanship on his birdhouse!

F showing off his toolbox!

A Great Day in History!

"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.
On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.
We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness
."
Today, along with millions of other around the world, I witnessed History in the making.
At approximently 12pm today, I watched as Chief Justice John Roberts swore in Barak Obama as our 44th President!
Today has been hugely emotional for many people.... including myself.
I never thought that we would see a minority President in my lifetime... I cannot imagine what this means to those who have been around much longer than I have.... the significance to those who have fought for civil rights in this country throughout the last century. Those who have passed on before us... would they have believed this would have happened???
How fitting that President Obama was sworn in the day after we honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the sacrifice that he gave for the cause.....
It took 100 years from the Emancipation Proclamation until the culmination of the Civil Rights Movement and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Now, it has been 45 years since then and the United States of America... a nation founded by slave owners to further their trade.... now has an African American President.
This is a very proud day for many. This is a proud day for me.
I have hope in our new President and his new administration.
I pray that he and our new leaders in Congress can guide this country back to greatness.
We need jobs that pay liveable wages.
We need a healthcare system in this country that takes care of everyone.
We need an education system in this country that allows every student to get a quality education.
We need programs to help working parents to take care of their children.
We need programs in this country that will take care of our seniors.
We need to have amnesty for immigrants... papered or not.
We need real immigration reform.... that allows people to be able to immigrate rather than excluding immigrants.
We need to help keep businesses here in America.
We need to sustain the middle class.
Tax Reforms are a must! Taxes are not a burden on society when all of society benefits.
My kids are now growing up in an era where a minority man is president.
I can only hope that our government and other posistions of power continue to represent the makeup of our great nation.
We have come a long way....but we have so far yet to go.

Bye Bye Dubya.....

Our Day Together

Today being MLK day... I didnt have school. So, we decided to do somethings that we had been putting off for a while.

We HAD to get haircuts for the boys!
Gosh...their hair was getting all fluffy and stuff.... their hair was over their ears and everything!
So, we actually took them to one of those kids specific hair cut places! They really enjoyed it!
They had a slide and toys to play with while we waited.... and when it was actually time to get your hair cut, you could sit in Lighting McQueen, A cozy Coupe, an Airplane, a firetruck, or a little pink car! You could also pick a dvd to watch... or even play a video game!
So... all the boys wanted Lightning McQueen... and SpongeBob! They all did well enough to each get a sucker and a balloon!

Afterwards, we were off to Ikea... remind me NOT to go to Ikea on a holiday again! HORRIBLE!
Although... E and K did get to stay in the play area...so they had a fabulous time!
F and L were stuck with us.... but we made it out of there leaving behind less than $50! Got some cool stuff in the process... some picture frames... and some silverware and plates/cups for the kids.
Oooo could I spend the $$$ in that store!

Getting super excited about tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

F Before

F looking much better after!

E not happy that I was snapping this pic, thus taking his attention away from SpongeBob.

K sitting on the slide step with his rewards!

Ok... I have two songs for this year....

1st one was sung by Conway Twitty (favorite singer!) and Loretta Lynn
You're the reason I'm a-ridin' 'round on recapped tyres.
An' you're the reason I'm hangin' our clothes outside on wires.
An' you're the reason our kids are ugly little darlins'.
Ah but looks ain't everything,And money ain't everything.
But' I love you just the same.
You're the reason I changed to beer from soda pop
.An' you're the reason I never get to go to the beauty shop.
You're the reason our kids are ugly little darlins'.
Oh, but looks ain't everything,And money ain't everything.
But' I love you just the same.
I guess that we won't ever have, everything we need.
'Cause when we get ahead, it's got another mouth to feed.
And that's the reason my good looks and my figure's gone.
And that's the reason I ain't got no hair to comb.
An' you're the reason our kids are ugly little darlins'.
Ah but looks ain't everything,And money ain't everything.
But' I love you just the same.
2nd Song... Sung by Garth Brooks.... We shall be Free!
This ain't comin' from no prophet
Just an ordinary man
When I close my eyes I see The way this world shall be
When we all walk hand in hand
When the last child cries for a crust of bread
When the last man dies for just words that he said
When there's shelter over the poorest head
We shall be free
When the last thing we notice is the color of skin
And the first thing we look for is the beauty within
When the skies and the oceans are clean again
Then we shall be free We shall be free We shall be free
Stand straight, walk proud 'Cause we shall be free
When we're free to love anyone we choose
When this world's big enough for all different views
When we all can worship from our own kind of pew
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Have a little faith
Hold out 'Cause we shall be free
And when money talks for the very last time
And nobody walks a step behind
When there's only one race and that's mankind
Then we shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight,
walk proud,
have a little faith,
hold out
We shall be free
We shall be free
We shall be free
Stand straight, have a little faith
We shall be free
Hope everyone has a wonderful 2009!
