Winding Down

Today was a very busy day.
Woke up to go to a sale at a used clothes sale...
Got some nice clothes for a good price...
Had to run home and get the kids ready for a birthday party.
Went to the birthday party...but got lost along the way....
Kids had a lot of fun of course since we went to Rat in the Hat (Chuck.e.Cheese)

Afterwards, we came home....watched meet the Robinsons... had some cereal....then the kids went off to bed.
I got my wii fit out for the first time...
Had fun doing the step aerobics... but cant balance on the darn thing... my hip is out of place due to my disability and I stand very off to the left side... so the balance games do NOT work for me. but it is still fun.

Now.. I'm playing Madden 09... love playing football on the wii!

I also did something today that I hadnt done in 13 years...
I played my French Horn.
Yep.
I did it.
I also broke my thumb string...so... I also had to quickly remember how to loop that around also... thankfully I'm a Millwright also... so no problem there...
The kids were pretty excited to see the horn...
the boys all played it... I have K on video playing it... he can actually hold a note... I'm excited!
More reason to get them kids on a violin and in a suzuki program!
Well...football is calling!

Fail

january is almost over.
This is the reason I dont make resolutions.
There are 2 things I have managed to accomplish this month.
I have gone to class and I have blogged.
I have failed miserably at being a better mom...
Failed at being a wife
Failed at being a better student
Failed to cook more and eat out less....
on
and
on.
Tonight it all seemed to come to a head.
It seems that I am so busy I dont know if I am coming or going.
I have mixed up more dates than I care to admit...
Things kinda all collided tonight...and the aftermath is not pretty.
I didnt mean for this blog to take such a negative tone....
but...
It's part of my life.
Life is not always pretty.
Life is not always positive and happy.
Life sucks sometimes...
and right now...
seems mine sucks just a little bit extra right now.
Praying that February is better.
It has to be...
otherwise the people with the huggy coats are gonna show up at my door.

LawSchoolFail

I am not usually speechless.
Really.
I've been known to run my mouth a little more than I should...but not really to be silent...
Well... once again....I have been silenced... and I'm pissed off.
Last class of the day.... 4th class today....
I get called on right off the bat... This is evidence...taught by the chief fed judge in our area.
Not just "any" prof...
So... he calls on me... I stand up (as is his policy)...he gives me a fact pattern....and....well....
I have NO FLIPPIN CLUE WHAT THE HELL I AM SUPPOSED TO SAY!
All I managed to spit out was that .38 is a common caliber...
Yep... I know my guns...
I know absolutely nothing about the Federal Rules of Evidence... but damn it I know my guns!
I could have screamed!!!!
I wanted to scream actually.....
I wanted to tell him I had no fing clue...and PASS....but he doesnt allow for passes... lucky me.
Really... I do my reading... I understand my cases...but when it comes time to...well apply things... yea...so lacking in THAT skill!
That is one reason law school sucks!
Now...if someone, anyone would have been willing to take me on as free labor in the past year, I might have had a fighting chance...but for those of us who cannot find jobs where we are willing to work for free... we are put at a distinct disadvantage when it comes time to actually make an argument.
and yet...here I am again writing out cover letters and such to try to get a job (read: will work insane hours for FREE kind of job) and will probably end up without again...
and yes.. I will probably graduate...and yes... I will probably pass the bar... but no... I will have no flippin clue how the hell to practice law....
I have a sneaking suspicion that I may end up in school again after law school....
For what???
Good question....
*laughs*
I am gonna try to go to bed now....
I have class tomorrow...at least I know I am NOT on call tomorrow.

Monday Music Sampler

Sunday, January 24, 2010

Well I can now sleep knowing that it will be the Saints v. the Colts in the Super Bowl!
I am a PackerBacker...so I just couldnt see rooting for the Vikes...no matter who the traitor QB was...

We had a very lazy Sunday round here...
I did absolutely NO reading whatsoever... which means I will be reading sun up to sun down tomorrow...
My dh is sick now...and I have a sick little guy in bed with me also....
I think I am fighting something off also....that or I am just plain tired... enjoyed my 3rd day in a row with a nap... pure bliss!
I love my naps!
*laughs*
The kids crab at having to take a nap...and I beg for one... although I've always been a sleeper.
I think 2 of my kids are also sleepers.... but the other kids wake them up.
I would love to have a house with more bedrooms...that way each kids could have their own...however, I dont see how we could have a 6 bedroom house! *laughs*
Maybe one day!
A girl's gotta dream right?

Busy Saturday

Every other Saturday at Lowes, they have a make and take for the kiddos.
Dh took our boys and his grandkids to make tic-tac-toe boxes today!
They all had fun and they were all very proud of their accomplishments!

After a nap from their fun-filled day, we sat down to dinner.
Everyone ate very well so they were treated to oreo cookies!

the Little Lady only eats the middle of the cookie...and leaves the cookie part

K eats the middle and then the cookie.

"Do you HAVE to take a pic of me eating a cookie???"

"I'll smile for another cookie!!!"

Daddy and F sharing dessert!

F telling us that he...uh... passed gas...
Thanks for the info!

Fav Foto Friday (1.22.10)

Today's FFF for me is a Retro theme.
I came across these picture while I was scrapbooking in November and finally got around to scanning them in this morning.
The past few days and for a couple more days have been kinda difficult on me.
for the past 5 years I have lived with a continuous disability....
These pictures are well before my injury.

These pictures are of my dad and I at work.
My dad worked in our plant for 38 years.
I have 11 years.
Both of us are Millwrights.
(as is my husband also...he had 40 years)

I went on the apprenticeship in late Nov of 99.
I got my Journeyman's card 3 days shy of 3 years!
I really loved being a Millwright...and I miss my job.

So, here is short journey to Dec 99 and the Summer of 01!

One of my first jobs as an apprentice was working on the sheet-metal table making duct work for our new training center.
My dad is in the typical journeyman mode... drinking coffee, watching the apprentices work!

My dad driving our baby crane and I was catching a ride.
We had just installed a huge electrical panel on an outside wall.

At my toolboxes... getting ready to go on a job.
Miss that tool pouch...

Typical apprentice job... taking out the scrap.

Summer of 01
All of the Millwright apprentices worked on putting those lids on the waste tanks that you see in the picture.
The crane I am driving is a 125 ton crane.
We are putting our 125 foot JLG (cherry picker) into the waste tank pit so that we can use the jlg to get over the tanks.

This was a very heavy and dangerous pick.
Loved working all the heavy equipment though!
That is just one benefit to being a Millwright!
Driving all the fun toys!

That's me on the left!
On the jlg that is now in the pit...
A and I used to stretch the jlg out every morning before we began our tank work.
125 feet up on a clear day and we could see for a long ways...
From our plant we could see Downtown Detroit, Windsor Canada, and even Lake Erie!
(the big D is 40 miles away)
JLG's are soo much fun...and their adaptability is amazing.
With a good driver, you'd be amazed at the spaces you can get into in one of those!
Miss driving those!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

This is my 300th post!

Gonna be short and sweet.

I am exhausted, we have 3 sick kids, and it is almost midnight.

Kids are going to the doctor tomorrow.

I am gonna do homework.

This is our exciting life!

It may wear me ragged...but I wouldnt have it any other way!

A Story...

My camera ended up missing for a day or two....
there had been many pictures added to it...
It looks like the kids were kinda telling a story with the pictures they took.
Here is my interpretation of their story...

This is the White Castle we had for lunch.

This is what happens to Momma's shake when she isnt looking

E is a big boy and apparently likes to unload the dishwasher on the sly

F likes to act silly!

Diego like to play with clean dishes.

Plotting our next move....

Today

Today of course was our day of remembrance of Martin Luther King Jr.
He was a revolutionary leader...who lead an all important revolution of social justice.

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

Time for some new clothes...

We went to church today.
I had to get some nice shirts for the boys to wear...so I also got them some undershirts aka "wifebeaters" for them to wear under their button down shirts....
I knew my boys had been having some growing going on...but really... I had NO idea!

They took their dress shirts off while en route to breakfast from church...
I let them go in the restaurant with just their wifebeaters on...
I shouldnt have...
Their bellies were completely hanging out!!!
I swear these just fit them!

Havin fun wrestling on the stairs!

Yes...that is how K looked at breakfast...
*embarrassed*

My two muscle men!!!
